Located conveniently within ION Orchard, The Marmalade Pantry is a hot favourite as a brunch place or afternoon tea spot. Their cakes are delicious and served in huge portions, and if you’re having a main, we recommend the Miso Lobster Sandwich ($34), which features mouthwatering lobster chunks in tobiko and miso mayo, served on a sesame bun with shoestring fries.

First 25 Cafe, located in the heart of the CBD, is a Korean-Western fusion cafe that serves up interesting (and delicious!) dishes such as Kimchi Cheese Fries and Uni Carbonara. If you just want a drink, check out their wide range of hot or iced chocolates – you get to choose from African Red, Orange Infused, Cinammon Spiced, French Mint, and Sri Lankan Chai. Definitely something different!

Red Baron is a bakery and cafe in the Gillman Barracks which serves Liberty Coffee, as well as a wide range of craft beers. Crowdpleasers include the Lemon Meringue tart and Salted Caramel & Dark Chocolate tart, both of which are made fresh in-house. If you have space for more, and adventurous tastebuds, try the Spiced Avocado Sandwich ($12), which combines avocado, feta, radish, and Dukkah spice to give you something different.

Ever tried Nordic Cuisine? Now you can! We’re talking poached eggs with eggplant and goat cheese on rye bread, bread with mascarpone and strawberries, and of course, their signature Pork Sandwich ($14). It’s easy to see why the latter is a hot favourite – it’s loaded full of pork, crispy crackling, as well as a red apple and mustard mayonnaise and cabbage slaw. A perfect balance of salty and tangy!

#5: Jewel Cafe & Barcafe-hopping at Jewel Cafe with Weeloy

Jewel Cafe & Bar is famous, and loved for its innovative dishes. Our top pick goes to the Umami Prawn Capellini ($20), which comes with grilled prawns and crustacean oil topped with what they call their own “Umani magic dust”. We’re not doubting the magical qualities of said dust – after all, we can’t seem to get enough!
