We’re not quite sure why we love the tastiest waffles so much. Perhaps it’s because waffles are pretty much synonymous with weekends. Perhaps it’s the quickening of our heartbeats when we drizzle glistening maple syrup over our waffles. Perhaps it’s because the moment when you find a truly good waffle can be, and often is, life-changing.
In any case, we’re not questioning a good thing. To all of you who are equally enamoured, here’s a list of tastiest waffles to sink your teeth into!
Mischief American Street Food was borne when a few local celebrities and restaurateurs made a list of their favourite foods, and decided to start a bistro based on that. This place is kind of a death sentence to anyone who’s on a diet, but on the bright side, the food is pretty damn awesome. Their alternative to a traditional, boring waffle is the Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich ($14) – you get vanilla ice cream in between freshly baked waffles with chocolate sauce and berry compote. Yummy!

Waffles are one of our favourite brunch foods, but sometimes you just want to shake things up a bit. Enter Drury Lane’s Duck Confit Waffles with Herbed Scrambled Eggs ($20). We love everything about this dish – the combination of sweet and savoury, the creaminess of the scrambled eggs, and how well-seasoned and flavourful the duck is. We’ll definitely be back for more!

#3: Tin Hill Social Kitchen & BarThe roomy, gorgeous interior of Tin Hill Social Kitchen & Bar, along with its relaxed and laidback vibe, never fails to put us in a good mood. To accompany that good mood, we can’t have anything short of Waffles ($16). Tin Hill Social’s rendition comes with fresh berries, banana whipped cream, maple syrup and toasted pine nuts, and is both substantial and satisfying.

If you’re a novelty-seeker, you’ll love SPRMRKT. This bistro, art space and concept shop has a different menu for everyday of the week. We recommend dropping by on a weekend so that you have ample time to check out the space, and also because their Waffles with Ice Cream ($14) is only available on the weekend brunch menu! Go with the caramelized bananas, chocolate fudge and toasted almonds for your topping – it’s a classic that can’t go wrong.

At Creamier, located at Toa Payoh, the shop space is tiny, the tables are tiny, and the queues are long, but that doesn’t stop people from swarming in. Their homemade ice cream and waffles are just that good! They have signature (eg Sea salt gula melaka), seasonal (eg Guava orange peel sorbet) and limited edition (eg chocolate peppercorn) flavours which are all innovative, and we love the fluffiness and crunch that comes with their waffle.
