With countless new cafes and bars opening every month, Singapore’s food scene is the most exciting it’s ever been. Check out these must-visit places including a Harry Potter themed cafe, a Gatsby-esque bar, and more!
#1: Platform 1094
Harry Potter fans will argue that this is long overdue – but a Harry Potter themed cafe has finally opened in Singapore. Going by early reviews of the place, the cafe seems to be bucking the trend of themed cafes being a waste of time and money (cough PompompurinCafe cough).
Take your pick from a wide range of wizard-themed food, desserts, and cocktails. The one dish (or drink, if we’re being accurate!) that’s most likely to appear on your Instagram feed over and over again is the Goblet of Fire Cocktail, which is every bit as magnificent as it actually looks.
Address: 1094 Serangoon Road, Singapore 328192
#2: Atlas Bar
If Harry Potter isn’t quite up your alley, maybe a Gatsby-themed bar will suit you better. This bar, which is scheduled to (finally!) open in March, is housed in the gorgeous Art Deco building colloquially known as the Gotham City Building.
Keeping in line with the Art Deco design aesthetic, Atlas bar promises to be extravagant and decadent like we’ve never seen before. You’ll also be in good hands – the team at Atlas bar comprises of a talented mix of individuals, including Roman Foltan and Carla Davina Soares. Both ditched their jobs at London’s Artesian at the Langham for this gig; it’s also worth noting that their previous workplace won the World’s Best Bar award four times consecutively.

#3: Hungry Heroes
Huge fan of superheroes? Then you have to check out Hungry Heroes, the coolest superhero themed restaurant located at Farrer Park!
Don’t be fooled by the restaurant’s unassuming-looking exterior. Once you enter, and take the flight of stairs up to the second level, you’ll be transported to a different world with the huge collection of life-sized statues, head busts, and action figurines on display.
The compelling decor isn’t the only thing that this place has got going for it – their food is pretty damn good as well. In particular, go for the Mother Of All Burgers, which can feed two quite comfortably. Featuring two fried chicken leg patties, pickled jalapeno, caramelized onions, and cheese, this is definitely one that will satiate even the most carnivorous of eaters.
Address: 33 Tessensohn Road, Singapore 217656
#4: Sum Yi Tai
This Cantonese ‘Gangster’ Tapas bar, whose name literally translates to ‘third wife’, has got to be the coolest place we know. Regardless of how bad a work day you’ve just had, the specialty cocktails and delicious tapas here will definitely turn the situation around.
Top recommendations include the Signature XO Carrot Cake (pictured), the Crispy Salmon Skin with Salted Egg Yolk, and the Maple-glazed Char Siu. Happy hour runs from 5pm – 8pm everyday except Saturday – and during this time, draft beers go at just $10 a pop!
