Get ready for the latest innovation in the F&B industry which will be soon be taking over your Instagram newsfeed – we’re talking about these voice-distorting Chandler’s Edible Helium Balloons by Friends-themed cafe, Central Perk.

According to owner Jit Min, it took 8 months’ worth of time and effort to get the recipe and production process right. As edible helium balloons are a rarity both within and outside of Singapore, with the only other place to offer it being a 3-Michelin starred restaurant in Chicago, it was no easy feat getting the technicalities of the dish right.

It’s understandable, then, that Jit Min remains tight-lipped when pressed on how the edible helium balloon, which come in strawberry, banana, and blueberry flavours, is created. “It’s proprietary information,” is all the 28 year old deigns to reveal.

Apart from the actual balloon, Chandler’s Edible Helium Balloon ($16) also comprises of a breadstick with coloured chocolate, nutella snow, nutella sauce, and popping candy. You suck the helium out of the balloon, which gives you a few seconds of voice-distorting fun (for Snapchat users, it’s like having one of their voice-altering filters come to live). Then you dip your breadstick into the dessert, and enjoy the sweet, gooey, sinful treat. For those who want to indulge in their sweet tooth, there’s an option to add on a dollop of coconut ice cream for an extra $5.

Hungry for more? Other than desserts, the cafe also serves a full menu, including main dishes, sides, and alcoholic beverages.
